After huge amounts of work together with Twelve Trains, Carsten Klein and Stef Bakker I'm proud to introduce the new Studio Bakker website.

Studio Bakker is a small company active in the creative sector. I assisted as co-designer in several beautiful projects. Please keep an eye on the site because there are new things to come...

.03 hanging lamp

The .03 hanging lamp is best to be described as a subtle cooperation between a wooden knob, wire and steel light fixture. Together with a 77 year old woodturner I went through an exciting process of finding out the right dimensions, techniques and types of wood for the knob.

At last African Iroko was chosen for it’s sustainability, rugged look and fine woodturning qualities. When exposed to sunlight Iroko tends to convert from a gold-brown to a chocolat-brown colour.

price: €229,- (incl. VAT)

prototypes new lamp

These are the prototypes of the hanging system for a soon to be finished lamp. It's made by a very friendly and skilled 77 year old woodturner. From left to right: coromandel, birma padauk, indian rosewood, american walnut and olive wood. I know what my favorites are...

Luminaire on Another Something and Company

Amsterdam based designer Joren Naerebout created this beautiful minimalistic light, the ‘Luminaire’. A balancing construction between the floor and the wall, made out of blued steel and finished with a ecological linseed oil. It brings a very subtile but clear atmosphere in a gentle and serene way. The ‘Luminaire’ lamp is handmade, and produced in a very limited amount. Keep an eye on Joren Naerebout's work, it looks promising and we very much like this mix of well crafted design and minimalism!

Leica M3

My Leica M3, born in 1964 (1100977) is one of the most beautiful and smartest designs I have ever seen. This masterpiece definitely is the best example of how I would like my designs to be in every way and that's why I want to share it with you.

.02 luminaire

The .02 is a fully handcrafted lighting fixture, made by Amsterdam craftsman. The frame is bent with bare hands in a steel mould. The luminaire is carefully balancing between the floor and the wall. The shape of the frame is designed to elevate and ‘embrace’ the bulb and guide the wire. The main material being used for the sculptural yet minimalistic frame and lighting fixture is blackened steel.

price: €299,- (incl. VAT)

lighting fixture model

This mould is specially made by craftsman Pieter Paul Los for bending the lighting fixtures frames of 'lamp 002'. At first the lamp is going to be sold and produced in a series of 5. Updates will follow soon.

Together with creative director Stef Bakker I designed a “live in” kitchen and office situated in a 17th century warehouse at the ‘Herengracht’ in Amsterdam. One of our sources of inspiration used for the design was a project named ‘art as repair’ by Colombian born sculptress Doris Salcedo. The kitchen is a balanced ‘patchwork’ of antique oak, rough concrete surfaces and bare steel combined with the excisting furniture in the house.

During my internship at marc prosman architects I mainly focussed on the design of a restaurant/ club for personnel and business clients of Tommy Hilfiger Europe. Architect F.A. Warners originally designed ‘Atlanta’ in 1925 for an American Automobil Company.
The new obtained 9000 f² space behind the glass fa├žade is fully stripped, renovated and re-decorated. The original entresol is back in sight. The floor of the entresol at the rear area is removed allowing people to have a great view on the almost 20 feet high music-stage and restaurant. The brick wall behind the bar is just like the concrete construction tripped of al it’s stucco.

.01 slab table

thanks to leather supply:

Knowledge of different materials and the need to know more about the essence of ‘a table’ was one of the reasons to start this project. Being fascinated with rough materials was one of the reasons to use them as part of the table. Slab cypress wood is used for the table top and a slim steel construction holds everything together. The details on the table have been reduced to a minimum. Designed, manufactured and photographed in my livingroom.
